Prohibited Payments
In Colorado, candidate committees are prohibited from making contributions to the candidate themselves, as that would violate state campaign finance rules.
Specifically, under Colorado law, candidate committees are listed under “Contribution Acceptance Limits” as prohibited—meaning they cannot contribute to the candidate's own campaign.
This prohibition ensures that all funds within a candidate committee are treated solely as contributions to the candidate for campaign purposes, not as contributions from the committee itself. The October 28, 2024 Willford Leadership Funds reflects just that.
